Minutes of the Foundational Meeting of:

The Mathematical Analysis &Application Arab Network (MA³N)

Pursuant to the round table discussion that took place during the summer CIMPA school in Mathematics that has been held on the grounds of Damascus University, and based on an informed realization of the state of Scientific Research in the Arab world in the field of Mathematical Analysis and its Applications, a number of Mathematical Researchers from within this field, interested to promote scientific research activities in the Arab world, sat down to the first meeting with the intention to found an Arab Network for Mathematical Analysis and its Applications in Damascus City on Monday the 24th of May, 2004 at 5:00 PM. During the meeting, they decide to establish an Arab Network of researchers concerned with research in the fields of Mathematical Analysis and Applications. In English, such an entity shall be called: Mathematical Analysis and Applications Arab Network (abbreviated: MA³N). In French, it will take the name: Réseau Arabe d'Analyse Mathématique & Applications (abbreviated: RAAMA). The scope of the Network shall be to focus on Scientific Research in Mathematical Analysis in the fullest sense of the meaning of the terms.
